Extreme Couponing

Tonight, TLC will be airing a new show called Extreme Couponing.  According to the TLC website:
Extreme Couponing profiles four shopaholics who use coupons to save thousands of dollars and amass huge stockpiles of goods. These shoppers go to the extremes, dumpster diving for coupons and spending hours a day searching the internet for great deals.
The previews I have seen show people buying huge quantities of items (like thousands of dollars worth) and paying next to nothing for them, thanks to coupons.  But what I am left wondering is, despite getting lots of 'stuff' for basically free, are they really going to get anything they NEED?  I'll reserve judgment until I watch the show and then I'll be back with my opinion.

Are you going to be watching Extreme Couponing tonight?

Thanks to Mom's Plans for initially tipping me off about this show.  Extreme Couponing airs tonight (12/29) on TLC at 8:00pm EST.

  1. I'll be tuning in for sure now. I find that most coupons are for processed foods that aren't that healthy. I stray away from those, because I think all the preservatives have adverse effects on our health. I do clip coupons for fruits/veggies, and non grocery items.

  2. We won't watch because we don't have cable, *but* I do know that one of the featured couponers, The Krazy Coupon Lady, takes advantage of her skills to give to food shelters and homes for abused women and children. She's also quite fit, so if she's stocking up on processed foods, she must have discovered that elusive principle known as moderation!

  4. Ah, thanks Melissa. That is really nice of you to say.

Jen, thank you for the insight. I am sorry the show, itself, did not highlight this aspect of the 'Krazy Coupon Lady's' actions.
